This simple documentary from our SIM Stories video channel archive takes a look at the Thai Buddhist holiday of Visakha Bucha. This is the single date in early June when the Buddha is said to have been born, to have attained enlightenment and to have died.

Thailand is more than 95% Theravada Buddhist - a religion mingled with Brahmanic teachings from Hinduism and traditional beliefs including the appeasement of local spirits and ancestors. Less than 1% of the population have accepted the Christian gospel and in many provinces of Thailand most people have never met a follower of Jesus.
